There were complaints about the half time scoreline as Al Shabab went ahead with a penalty but in the end Mumbai were dominated in their first match at the Champions League. With only 1 team going through from each group, this could mathematically end Mumbai's chances to progress to the knockout stages.

But the Indian side did give a good account of themselves on several occasions. Chhangte and Bipin showed sparks on the wings, Apuia and Fall were solid in the middle. They could have more to offer on their Asian adventure still.

Chhangte wrong steps the defender and shoots. Close to what could have been a special goal to end the night.

It's the Saudi victory chants on the megaphone that are headlining the night as of now though. Banega's two goals set it up, Al Shabab making light work of Mumbai eventually. 2 minutes added on.

Mumbai show some zest down the wings again as the second half winds down. Chhangte, Bipin both with chances to shoot.

The Indian players looking to have very little time on the ball, Fall proving to be too little to fall back on for the Mumbai defence.

Mumbai, two goals down, finding it hard to claw back. Chhangte finds the back of the net but the flag is raised for offside.

At the other end, Al Shabab carve open the Mumbai defence again. 3-0!

Second goal for Ever Banega! No doubt about it this time. Slammed into the net.

Phurba Lachenpa blocked out a curler earlier in the half, now blocks out another shot with his outstretched hand. Earns the captain's ire after going off his line, again. Fall waves him away towards his line.

Al Shabab make a spate of changes. They have not threatened Mumbai much in the last few minutes.

Vikram goes off, Raynier Fernandes comes on for Mumbai.

Mumbai try to build down play down the flanks as the second half gets underway.

Bipin goes down at the edge of the box, no penalty. Mumbai feel aggrieved at going a goal down to what they think was a dive.

The second half is ready to get underway.

Mumbai respond! Changte first swings in a cross from the right, then Bheke. There is a penalty shout as Cassio seems to have been pulled down, but the ref waves play on.

Phurba wanders out of his goal again! Not as costly this time, but the Mumbai goalkeeper is going off line far too frequently. The ball almost falls for Vikram in space as the first half winds down. Almost.

Banega's goal from the penalty spot the difference between the two sides at HT.

Mumbai survive a scramble in the box now as Banega builds up an attack and Phurba gets his hand to the ball but cannot collect. And two minutes later, Al Shabab squander another chance. Things looking ominous for Mumbai all of a sudden.

Vikram gets an yellow card for a late tackle. Banega is furious with Vikram, the ref needed to assure him he's dealt with the Indian. Vikram puts in a challenge on Banega himself a minute later and wins the ball.

But then disaster! Phurba tackles inside the box - very narrowly, Mumbai claim it's a free kick - and it's a penalty. And Banega scores.
