The Indian men’s squash team finished fifth at the WSF World Team Championships following a 2-0 win over Hong Kong on Saturday.

In the first match, Abhay Singh delivered an impressive performance, beating Tsz Kwan Lau 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-4). The second match saw Velavan Senthilkumar fight hard against Henry Leung, eventually winning 3-2. After losing the second and third game, Velavan bounced back to win the match 12-10, 8-11, 5-11, 11-1, 11-8.
Earlier in the quarterfinals, India made a strong comeback to defeat Malaysia 2-1 and move into the finals. The tie began with Abhay Singh losing to Eain Yow Ng 3-0 (11-13, 9-11, 5-11), giving Malaysia a 1-0 lead. However, Veer Chotrani and Velavan Senthilkumar stepped up to ensure India won.
Velavan defeated Sanjay Jeeva 3-1 (11-8, 7-11, 11-3, 11-4), while Veer triumphed over Mohd Kamal 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 11-5), sealing India’s victory and a spot in the semifinals.
