London Squash Classic: Anahat Singh, Ramit Tandon advance to second round

Anahat Singh and Ramit Tandon began their campaigns with victories in the first round of the PSA Gold-tier London Squash Classic 2026 in England on Tuesday.

Anahat produced a dominant performance to outclass World No. 30 Mariam Metwally of Egypt 11-3, 11-2. The recently crowned World Junior Champion conceded just five points in the entire match.

Ramit, meanwhile, defeated Qatar’s Abdullah Al-Tamimi 11-6, 11-7. This was the fourth meeting between the two players, with Ramit equalising their head-to-head record with the victory.

Anahat will next face eighth seed Nele Gilis of Belgium in a tough pre-quarterfinal on Wednesday, while Ramit takes on England’s World No. 15 Mohamed ElShorbagy.

This will be the fourth meeting between World No. 42 Ramit and ElShorbagy, with the Indian yet to win a game against him. Anahat and Gilis will be facing each other for the first time.

Meanwhile, Veer Chotrani exited in the first round after losing in straight games to Switzerland’s Yannick Wilhelmi 9-11, 9-11. This was their third meeting of the year, with Wilhelmi claiming his second win.
