July 29th schedule here:
Set 2 was completely dominated by Amy Williams, who did not let Nayanmoni Saikia win a single end . Williams took the lead in every end, while Saikia managed to score just one point throughout the set.
Amy Williams won the second set 10-1, sealing the match in straight sets 8-7, 10-1 and handing the Indian her first defeat of the Commonwealth Games.
India's medal tally at the Commonwealth Games 2026 has now risen to 12 medals: Detailed breakdown here
The match started with Amy Williams taking points in both of the first two ends, building an early 5 point lead. At that stage, it looked difficult for Nayanmoni Saikia to make a comeback and take control of the set.
However, from End 3, Saikia began scoring consistently. By End 6, she had completely turned the match around, taking a one-point lead to make the score 7-6. This made End 7 the deciding end of the set, where Amy Williams picked up a point to level the score before securing another to win the set by 8-7.
Pooja couldn't find a valid attempt at 1.82m and hence finished her competition in 8th place with the best of 1.77m.
After an hour delay due to heavy rain, Pooja couldn't find her best form and failed both her remaining attempts.
Kapil Pokhariya's 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign lasts a grand total of one bout.
He has been ousted from the tournament as home favourtie McNulty registers a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision win.
Pokhariya was no match to the Scottish pugilist and painted a sorry picture throughout all three rounds.
Pooja Singh takes the first jump right after the restart but misses her attempt at 1.77m.
She has one more attempt now at this height, and if she fails to clear that, her competition will be over.
Srihari Nataraj finishes sixth in his semi-final, clocking 55.52s.
It is not enough to book him a spot in the final, as he finishes 12th overall combining both semi-finals.
He needed to be in top eight to make it through. A disappointing campaign for India's best swimmer continues.
Srihari Nataraj will swim in the second semi-finals of men's 100m backstroke.
He had earlier clocked 55.58s in the heats and will swim the semi-final in lane 1.
