India heads into Day 6 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 on the back of another productive day in Glasgow.
Weightlifting once again delivered medals, with Ajaya Babu Valluri claiming silver in the men's 79kg category after setting a Commonwealth Games snatch record. In athletics, Sarvesh Kushare matched the winning height of 2.25m to secure silver in the men's high jump, while Gyaneshwari Yadav and Bindyarani Devi added to India's medal tally in weightlifting.
The focus now shifts to another action-packed day, with medals on offer in athletics, weightlifting, boxing, swimming and bowls.
India's medal hopes will rest on Harjinder Kaur and Nirupama Devi in weightlifting, Pooja Singh in the women's high jump and long-distance runner Gulveer Singh in the men's 10,000m final. In boxing, Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas, Parveen Hooda, Jadumani Singh and Kapil Pokhariya will all look to book places in the semifinals and guarantee themselves medals.
Meanwhile, Sajan Prakash and Srihari Nataraj return to the pool hoping to progress through their respective heats and semifinals.

Day 5 Recap: Historic para athletics gold, more weightlifting medals power India's campaign!
Sharmila Dhankhar scripted history by becoming India's first-ever para athletics Commonwealth Games champion, winning gold in the women's F57 shot put with a best throw of 9.81m. Adding to the celebrations, Shilpa K. Shyla claimed bronze after being upgraded following a successful protest, giving India a historic double podium. The medals also ended the country's 20-year wait for a para athletics medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Weightlifting continued to be India's strongest discipline as Ajaya Babu Valluri settled for silver in the men's 79kg category after an intense battle with Malaysia's Mohamad Aniq Kasdan, finishing just one kilogram short of gold despite setting a new Commonwealth Games snatch record of 149kg. Gyaneshwari Yadav won silver in the women's 53kg event with a national record total of 199kg, while Bindyarani Devi claimed bronze in the women's 58kg category to secure her second successive Commonwealth Games medal.
In athletics, Sarvesh Kushare became the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games silver medal in the men's high jump, clearing 2.25m.
