2025 All England Open LIVE: The prestigious All England Open Super 1000, the oldest badminton competition in the world, began on Tuesday in Birmingham.

Leading India's charge on the opening day were the men's singles shuttlers in HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen. 

The former exited while the latter produced a stellar comeback

Also, Malvika Bansod punched above her weight move through to the second round in the women's singles. Meanwhile, there was no joy for Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto in he women's doubles and for Sathish Karunakaran-Aadya Variyath in the mixed doubles.

Lakshya Sen and Malvika Bansod pulled off solid victories on the opening of the All England Open Badminton Championships 2025.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy, Crasto-Ponnappa and Sathish Kumar-Aadya fell by the way side.

Action continues of Wednesday and the Indians to watch out for will be the Rohan-Gadde pair in the mixed doubles, PV Sindhu in the women's singles, Treesa-Gayathri in the women's singles, Sathwik-Chirag (seeded 7th) in the men's doubles and the Priya-Shruti pair in the women's doubles.

The Indian pair were beaten by the Chinese Taipei pair of Hsieh-Hung 20-22 & 18-21.

The Indian (WR 28) overcame the higher ranked Min (WR 12) 21-13, 10-21, 21-17 in a one hour and three minutes encounter to progress through to round two.

India's Lakshya Sen switched gears deep in the decisive final game to romp home 21-15. 

It took a while before the Indian got going, but when he did, he looked good.

In the end, after an hour and fifteen minutes, Lakshya Sen prevailed 13-21, 21-17 and 21-15.
