That's all we have from the first day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Avinash Sable and Murali Sreeshankar have made it to the final of their respective events.
Will they create history? Well, we will know at least about Sreeshankar tomorrow. Do join in then.
Thank you for joining into our coverage. Have a good day!
11:20pm - Women's 3000m Steeplechase HEAT 2 - Parul Chaudhary
1:57am - Men's 400m Hurdles HEAT 2 - MP Jabir
Tajinder's retirement means an early curtain on India's campaign at the World Athletics Championships on the first day. What a day it has been though!
It started on a disappointing note with both racewalkers - Priyanka Goswami and Sandeep Kumar, registering sorry performances to finish 34th and 40th in their respective 20km racewalk.
Avinash Sable then lifted the spirits by qualifying for the 3000m Steeplechase final for second consecutive time and Sreeshankar continued it by becoming the first Indian man to qualify for long jump final before Tajinder had a "r" marked against his name.
Well, Tajinderpal Singh Toor and his disappointments in World events continue. The shotputter has an "r" marked against his name on the World Athletics website and that could mean just one thing - the Indian has retired from the event without a single throw.
Murali Sreeshankar is through to the final of Men's Long Jump. His best of 8m places him seventh overall to advance.
That's the end for Sreeshankar as well. He finishes with a best of 8m and is currently placed sixth. He should be through to the final, but we will wait for an official confirmation.
Anees registers 7.58m in his third and final attempt and bows out with a best of 7.73m in his second jump. Sreeshankar now the lone Indian standing in Long Jump.
Jeswin finally registers a mark. Nothing very impressive, but he has jumped 7.79m in his final attempt. He is out of the reckoning for a spot in the final and is ranked 19th after exhausting all his chances.
A brilliant 8.18m leap from Yuki Hashioka and the Japanese earns the automatic qualification to the final. Sreeshankar's 8m places him third currently behind Hashioka and Miltiadis Tentoglou.
