Japan were bowled out for just 57 runs in 19.5 overs against India in the women’s cricket match at the Asian Games
Ayaka Kato Stafford was Japan’s top scorer with 25 runs off 47 balls, but she received little support from the rest of the batting order. Haruna Iwasaki was the only other Japanese batter to reach double figures, scoring 10 off 22 balls.
Shree Charani was the standout bowler for India, finishing with an impressive 4/10 from four overs. She struck early and returned later in the innings to complete her four-wicket haul. Shafali Verma took 2/13, while Shreyanka Patil claimed 1/9, adding to Japan’s problems with the ball turning and the scoring rate remaining low.
Japan’s innings never really gathered momentum. They reached 24/2 after the Powerplay and were unable to accelerate runs in the middle overs. With wickets falling regularly, Japan eventually managed only 57 runs, leaving India with a target of 58 to win.
