Asian Games 2026: Which state won the most medals for India?
Out of the 207 Indian athletes, who returned from the 2026 Asian Games with a medal, 45 hail from Haryana.

Athletes from 24 states and Union Territories won medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, highlighting the diversity of India's medal-winning contingent.
Haryana claimed the biggest share with 45 medallists, followed by Maharashtra (22) and Punjab (21). Tamil Nadu (14) and Uttar Pradesh (13) were the other two states to register double-digit tallies.
Haryana’s 45 athletes made up 21.7% of India’s entire medal-winning contingent of 207 athletes and also produced the highest number of individual champions.
Five athletes from the state — Neeru Dhanda (shooting), Parveen Hooda and Ankush Panghal (boxing), and Aman Sehrawat and Sujeet Kalkal (wrestling) — won individual titles in Japan.
Maharashtra (Kumkum Mohod – archery), Karnataka (Pranvi Urs – golf) and Assam (Lovlina Borgohain – boxing) each contributed one individual gold medallist.
Alongside that, Haryana also had 32 athletes who contributed to team gold medals, including Neeru, who secured both an individual title and a mixed team title.
Meanwhile, Punjab produced 13 gold-medal athletes, all from team sports like hockey and cricket. Maharashtra likewise had 12 athletes contributing to team medals.
