India were crowned Asian Hockey 5s champions after beating Pakistan on penalties. The match went into shootouts after scores were 4-4 after 30 minutes.

India vs Pakistan, Hockey 5s 2023 Asia Cup Final: India were crowned Asian Hockey 5s champions after beating Pakistan 6-4 after penalty shootouts in the final on Saturday. This is the first time in three meetings that India have beaten Pakistan in the Hockey 5s format.
From 2-4 down in the second half, India took the game to the shootout after two goals from Mohammed Raheel. In the shootout, Pakistan missed all their chances while Maninder Singh hit the hammer in the coffin to score India's second goal in the shootout.

2024 Hockey 5s World Cup: India, Pakistan, Malaysia qualify from Asia
India, Pakistan and Malasyaia will represent Asia at the upcoming Hockey 5s World Cup in 2024. The top three teams at this ongoing Asia Cup were to qualify for next year's inaugural World Cup in this format. Additionally, Oman, as the tournament’s host, have also earned a place in the event, scheduled to take place in Muscat on January 24-31, 2024.

What is Hockey 5s?
First played in preparation for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, Hockey5s is a super-fast, shorter format of hockey. Hockey5s is an invasion game played between two teams with 4 field players and a goalkeeper in a much smaller pitch than the normal 11-a-side version of field hockey.

Hockey5s incorporates all the skills and game principles of Hockey. With fewer players, less space and rebound boards on all 4 sides of the court, Hockey5s also presents a range of different tactical options to other formats.
