It is highly possible that the remainder of the 2019-20 I-League season will not go ahead and the current standings of the teams will be considered as the final of the tournament reports Goal.

The last match played in the I-League was on 15 March and since then the season has been temporarily suspended amidst the on going coronavirus scare. All India Football Federation (AIFF) has suspended all football activities initially till 31 March but extended it to 15 April after the interference of the government.

It is seemingly an end of this season especially because when AIFF got in touch with the clubs, they also showed reluctance to return back on the field. This nearly fixes on the future of this season.

The last march was played on 14 March between NEROCA and Chennai City and match between the arc-rivals Mohun Bagan and East Bengal was scheduled a day later, which also got canceled. With the increasing concerns, clubs like Punjab FC have already asked their players to hop back home.

The only contentious issue is likely to be the distribution of the prize money. The second placed team is set to get a windfall of INR 60 lakhs, the third-placed team is entitled to INR 40 lakhs while the fourth-placed side will get INR 25 lakhs. But the second and sixth placed team have only one point separating them which makes it even more difficult to decide on the price money.
