The coronavirus pandemic imposed a multitude of restrictions and has led the world to a new normal. This included fitness, as gyms shut down and many personal trainers and fitness services went the virtual route. Despite gyms and fitness centres opening for public use with restrictions such as mandatory sanitization and use of masks or face shields during exercise, many choose to stick with home workouts.

Unsupervised workouts may not provide one with the results that they expect, especially with the limited resources and unavailability of time to study and curate a fitness program. This is where Apple released Apple Fitness+.

What is Apple Fitness+?

Apple Fitness+ is a subscription based service that comes with Apple devices. As described on Apple’s website, it is a fitness experience for everyone using the Apple Watch. Users can do home workouts that are designed by some of the best trainers anytime, anywhere. The service updates itself with new workouts every week so one can never get tired and have variation in workouts always.

The service proves beneficial to many, as workouts done virtually and tracked by the Apple Watch; provide a safe experience to remain fit. Metrics such as calories burnt, time, music and type of workout are tracked by the Apple Watch and iPad/iPhone. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated in a tweet that the company has always driven people to become fit irrespective of where one might be.

Currently, Apple Fitness+ is designed to track 10 activities - Indoor Cycling, Dance, Yoga, Strength, Rowing, Core, Treadmill Walking, High Intensity Interval Training, Treadmill Running, and Mindful Cooldown. Users can avail this service for the price of $9.99 (roughly Rs. 700) per month or $79.99 (roughly Rs. 5,800) per year.

Though equipment is not required, Apple store offers equipment on their website should any users choose to take their workouts a step further. The variety of music choice, workouts, and time make Apple Fitness+ a good service for fitness enthusiasts.
