With people staying indoors and not being allowed to step outside their houses to flex their muscles and indulge in sports, esports is seemingly gaining popularity.

While playing video games is a great option to turn one's attention away and switch off from reality for a little while, too much of a gaming is not healthy for a human body.

According to an article on ladbible, OnlineCasino.ca has built a virtual model of a gaming addict to study and understand a gaming addict's body could undergo if he or she remains a gaming addict for 20 years.

The model has been named Michael.

Any esport player spends majority of his or her time in front a screen. Naturally, eyes are the first organ to get affected.

Michael has bloodshot eyes and thick dark circles around his eyes.

Any egamer tends to stay indoors and hence is deprived of sunlight. Exposure to the ultraviolet-B radiation in the sun’s rays causes a person’s skin to create Vitamin D. The vitamin D made thanks to the sun plays a big role in bone health. Low Vitamin D levels have been linked to rickets in children and bone-wasting diseases like osteoporosis and osteomalacia.

Also, lack of exercise makes an esport player obese.

Maintaining one posture for long stretch of hours gives way for poor blood flow which in turn develops varicose veins.

Hands too bear the burden of excessive gaming. The fingers and thumbs are under constant strain because of repeated pressing of buttons on gaming consoles or keyboards. Hence fingers and thumbs can have blisters, become numb, develop ulcers and at times get fractured.

World Health Organisation (WHO) classifies gaming addiction as a psychological disorder and is distinguished from healthy gaming by 'impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences'.

Here is how Michael looks like.

Michael is not to scare anyone away from gaming and not indulge in it. Esports is turning out to be a boon in these extraordinary situations. But with few precautions and healthy practices in place gaming could turn out to be a more joyful and beneficial activity.

Here are few tips from experts for people who love gaming.

  1. Regular Exercise
  2. Prevent eye strain
  3. Healthy diet
  4. Posture
  5. Proper hydration of the body.

As long as people remember to follow these rules they can have a gala time gaming.
