India heads into Day 4 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 looking to build on Jhandu Kumar's bronze medal, with several medal hopefuls in action across weightlifting, boxing, bowls, gymnastics and swimming.
The spotlight was on Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu, who bagged her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal. Meanwhile, Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthupandi bagged silver medals in their respective weight categories.
Elsewhere, boxers Preeti Pawar and Jadumani Singh reached the quarterfinals, while Aditya Pratap Yadav lost out in the round of pre-quarterfinals.
On the other hand, Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh had two bowls matches. Putul Sonowal, Tapan Mohanty, and the Indian men's swimming relay team were also in action.

In End 6, Putul regained some confidence and picked up two points. He reduced Shaun James Parnis' lead to 8 points, making the score 10-2.

Bowls, Men's Singles, India vs Malta :Shaun James Parnis gets himself a 10 point lead
End 5 followed the same pattern, with Putul unable to get his bowls close to the jack. Shaun James Parnis remained in complete control, won the end comfortably, and finished end 5 with a commanding 10-0 lead.

By End 4, it look's like it's not Putul's day. He tried to get himself on the scoreboard but was unable to place his bowls close to the jack. Shaun James Parnis took full advantage, extending his lead to 7-0.

And Mirabai Chanu continues her record breaking spree. Sets a new Commonwealth record now as she lifts 85kg with ease.
She drops the bar down, bows to the judges, and then lets out a grin.
There's a reason, we believed, Mirabai will ease to the gold medal even at half her best.

In End 3, Putul continued to struggle as he was unable to place his bowls close to the jack. Shaun James Parnis remained in control of the set, picked up another point, and extended his lead to 5-0 after three ends.

In End 2, the Maltese player continued to dominate as his bowl finished closest to the jack. Putul was unable to place his bowls near the jack, allowing Shaun James Parnis to add more points to his lead.

Artistic Gymnastics, Men's Individual All-Around Final: Tapan Mohanty finishes in 15th position
Tapan had a poor outing on the pommel horse as he only managed to score 9.500 points and fell one more place in the overall standings to 15th place.
He had a combined total of 70.100 points, which is 1.600 points lower than his qualification score, and hence he finished outside the top 10.
His highest score was on the Vault with 12.700 Points, followed by 12.450 points on the Parallel Bars and 12.00 points on the Rings.
With this, India's campaign ended in men's Gymnastics as none of the gymnasts had qualified for the Individual apparatus finals.

In End 1 of Set 1, Shaun James Parnis took an early three-point lead after placing his bowls closest to the jack. Putul Sonowal was unable to get his bowls nearer to the jack, allowing the Maltese player to take control of the opening end.
