India ended Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 with its first medal of the Games after Jhandu Kumar clinched bronze in the men's heavyweight para powerlifting event.
Earlier in the day, Ashok narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the men's lightweight final with a personal-best lift of 200kg, while Paramjeet Kumar placed seventh. In the women's lightweight events, Jaspreet Kaur and Suman Devi finished sixth and seventh respectively, while Kasthuri Rajamani was unable to register a successful lift in the women's heavyweight final.
India also remained in action across swimming, artistic gymnastics, bowls and boxing as the campaign gathered momentum in Glasgow.

Alexander takes back the lead with his first 3-point end of the match, gaining a 4-3 lead over Putul after the three ends.
He followed it with a 1-point win in the fourth end and now leads the set by 2 points and hoping to force a tiebreak with 3 ends to go.

After losing the first end of the second set by 0-1, Putul once again showed his form and bounced back strongly with a 3-point end in the second.

After a slow start in the first set, Putul fought back and regained a good 3-point lead and eventually won the set by 7-5, despite Alexander's 1-point win in final end.

Putul carried the momentum from End 5 into the next end. With his first three bowls, he made sure they finished closest to the jack. Alexander tried his best to change the jack's position but failed to do so, allowing Putul to take three points and lead 7-4.

End 5 was Putul's chance for him to save the set, and he made the most of it. He levelled the score, with a 4-4 draw.

End 4 did not go in Putul's favour, as both his and Alexander's bowls were close to each other. However, Alexander's bowl finished closest to the jack, helping him regain the lead.
