India ended Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 with its first medal of the Games after Jhandu Kumar clinched bronze in the men's heavyweight para powerlifting event.
Earlier in the day, Ashok narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the men's lightweight final with a personal-best lift of 200kg, while Paramjeet Kumar placed seventh. In the women's lightweight events, Jaspreet Kaur and Suman Devi finished sixth and seventh respectively, while Kasthuri Rajamani was unable to register a successful lift in the women's heavyweight final.
India also remained in action across swimming, artistic gymnastics, bowls and boxing as the campaign gathered momentum in Glasgow.

Para Powerlifting, Women's Lightweight Finals: Jaspreet Kaur finishes sixth, Suman Devi seventh!
India's Jaspreet Kaur and Suman Devi finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the women's lightweight para powerlifting competition at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Jaspreet ended with a best successful lift of 100kg, earning 96.4 points, while Suman finished with 100kg and 88.4 points after her two attempts at 103kg were ruled 'No Lift'.
With the conclusion of the women's lightweight events, India's campaign in the lightweight para powerlifting category ends without a medal.

Para Powerlifting, Women's Lightweight Final A: Suman Devi's final 103kg attempt ruled 'No Lift'!
India's Suman Devi successfully pressed 103kg in her third and final attempt, but the lift was ultimately ruled a 'No Lift' after two of the three referees voted against it.
Suman therefore finishes with her opening successful lift of 100kg (88.3 points). With all four Indian lifters having completed their events, India's campaign in the lightweight para powerlifting competitions has concluded.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs South Africa: India win their second match !!!!
India win their second bowls match against South Africa in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. South Africa tried their best to recover in the final end but could only get two bowls close to the jack, earning two points and ending the match with a 7-5 score in Set 2. With the win, India top the Section B table with three points.

Para Powerlifting, Women's Lightweight Final A: Suman Devi fails to clear 103kg!
India's Suman Devi was unsuccessful in her second attempt, failing to clear 103kg in the Women's Lightweight Final A.
The lift was ruled a 'No Lift' after a shaky effort, leaving Suman on her opening successful lift of 100kg (88.3 points) with one final attempt remaining.

Bowls Women's Pairs, Section B, India vs South Africa: Pinki Singh delivers again !
Rupa Rani Tirkey gave India an excellent start by placing two bowls close to the jack, while two South African bowls rolled into the ditch. Pinki Singh then ensured India maintained the momentum by placing another bowl near the jack. South Africa's final bowl looked like it might cost India points, but Pinki's last bowl secured a commanding 7-4 lead for India.

In End 3, South Africa showed their skill and precision, giving India no opportunity to get close to the jack. They regained the lead by one point, making the score 4-3 at the end.
