Indian men's freestyle wrestlers kickstarted their campaign at the 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships in Amman, Jordan on Saturday.
The top Indian wrestlers, like Sujeet Kalkal (65 Kg) and the reigning U23 World Champion Chirag (57 Kg), were contesting in their respective categories.
Jointy Kumar (97 Kg), Vishal Kaliramana (70 Kg), and Chandermohan (79 Kg) were the other three wrestlers who started their campaign at the tournament.
As it happened:
After Sujeet's withdrawal due to injury, the Indian men's freestyle went empty-handed on the first day of the competition.
Five Indian wrestlers- Chirag (57 Kg), Sujeet (65 Kg), Chandermohan (70 Kg), Vishal Kaliramana (79 Kg), and Jointy Kumar (97 Kg) went blank from Amman, Jordan.

Vishal, competing in 70 Kg, was defeated byTömör-Ochiryn Tulga of Mongolia in the first round.
Now, Tulga has also faced a defeat in his semifinal match to Tajikstan wrestler, ending the campaign for the Indian.
Chandermohan, competing in 79 Kg, was pinned by Magomet Evloev of Tajiskistan in the quarterfinal.
But, Evolev has also faced a defeat in his semifinal match to Iranian wrestler, ending the campaign for the Indian.
Indian men's freestyle wrestlers had an underwhelming performance as none of the five wrestlers made it to the last four.
However, except for Chirag, these wrestlers are still in contention for a bronze medal via repechage.
