Virat Kohli’s stake in Agilitas Sports has increased from 1.8 per cent to 6.4 per cent following the National Company Law Tribunal’s (NCLT) approval of the merger of One8 Sports Pvt Ltd with Agilitas Sports Pvt Ltd.

The Mumbai Bench of the NCLT approved the merger, bringing Kohli’s one8 brand further into Agilitas’ integrated sportswear business. The company announced the increase in Kohli’s shareholding on October 29, 2026.

Kohli had previously invested ₹40 crore in Agilitas. He will remain one8’s co-founder and stay involved in the brand’s development.

What the merger means for one8

The merger gives one8 access to Agilitas’ operational capabilities across product design, research and development, manufacturing and retail.

Agilitas co-founder and CEO Abhishek Ganguly said the integration would strengthen the brand’s ability to develop products and expand its reach. Product development and execution will be central to its long-term plans.

The move brings one8 closer to an operating structure that combines brand building with the infrastructure required to develop and distribute sportswear products.

Agilitas’ wider portfolio includes one8, Lotto, sports footwear manufacturer Mochiko Shoes and retail initiative Sports Yard. Its business spans product development, manufacturing, distribution and retail.

one8 targets new categories, international market

With the merger approved, one8 plans to enter additional sporting categories and expand beyond India into the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

The ambition is to build a global sportswear brand originating in India. Access to Agilitas’ manufacturing and retail capabilities could support that expansion, although the company has not detailed a launch timeline or specific product categories.

“The aspiration is for the brand to outlast all of us, become a part of people’s lifestyle and ultimately stand on its own,” Kohli said.

His continued involvement as co-founder places him in the brand’s development as one8 moves into its next phase.

A larger sportswear business

The merger reflects Agilitas’ effort to build a business that connects sports brands with product development, manufacturing and distribution capabilities.

For one8, the integration provides an operational base for its planned category and geographical expansion. For Agilitas, it brings the Kohli-backed brand further into its wider sportswear portfolio.

The next phase will depend on how the business translates that infrastructure into products, retail reach and growth across the markets it has identified.
