The Tata Mumbai Marathon has ranked 21st among the world's top 50 marathon brands in the 2026 Brand Finance Marathons 50 study, winning the ‘Strongest Economic Impact – Emerging Markets’ award.

Promoted by Procam International, the event was assessed alongside more than 75 marathons across nine markets in Brand Finance's second annual study, which evaluates brand strength, appeal and economic and societal contributions.

According to the report, the world's top 50 marathons generated an estimated US$6 billion in economic impact for their host cities in 2025, with benefits extending across tourism, hospitality, retail and other local businesses.

Vivek Singh, Joint Managing Director of Procam International, said, “Marathons are no longer just races; they are engines of participation, city pride and economic activity.”

He added, “The Tata Mumbai Marathon has shown what an indigenously grown sporting property can become when purpose, scale and community come together.”

Scott Moore, Head of Sports Services at Brand Finance, said, “The growth of marathon running across Asia, particularly in India, reflects the rising influence of mass-participation sport.”

He also noted that the Tata Mumbai Marathon had played an increasingly important role in supporting India's running ecosystem, attracting commercial investment and generating economic value.

The recognition adds to the marathon's international profile and highlights the growing role of mass-participation events in shaping the sports economy of their host cities.
