Nike has unveiled Vegam Run, its first running shoe designed specifically for India, as the sportswear brand looks to connect with the country’s growing running community.
Announced on October 28, the shoe was developed using insights from Indian runners and is designed for both running and everyday movement.
It will be available in India from November 1 through Flipkart and select retail locations, priced at ₹3,795. Wider distribution through Nike’s Indian partners is planned for spring 2027.
Designed around Indian runners
Nike developed Vegam Run in consultation with runners across India, gathering insights into their training routines and daily lives. The shoe features an engineered mesh upper, full-length foam cushioning and a textured rubber outsole, with perimeter rubber intended to improve durability.
The design also includes pull tabs for easier wear and locally inspired colourways. One variation, called the After Dark Tour, celebrates Nike’s Mumbai running event scheduled for December.
“Our ambition with Vegam Run was simple: Honor the voice of the runner in India and build what they need,” said Deepa Ramprasad, senior director, Nike Road Running Footwear. “The result is a shoe that brings Nike Running cushioning, comfort and versatility to more athletes while reflecting our long-term commitment to growing sport in India.”
Faster product development
Nike said it moved from the initial design brief to a confirmed product in 55 days, with the journey from concept to launch taking approximately five months. The company aligned its product, marketplace and manufacturing teams around a focused development process.
“There’s an incredible energy around running in India today, with a new generation embracing movement in ways that are deeply personal, expressive and community-driven,” said Tarundeep Singh, general manager, Nike India. “Vegam Run is an invitation to running for more athletes in India and around the world. This innovation represents our commitment to serving a broader spectrum of athletes, from those taking their first steps into sport to lifelong runners.”
Expanding Nike’s presence in India
The launch comes as Nike seeks to strengthen its presence in India and reach more consumers through locally developed products. The company plans to expand Vegam Run into additional international markets in 2027.
