On the opening day of the National Games 2025, Uttarakhand edged past Karnataka 3-2 in a thrilling men's badminton team match, while their women's team secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Gujarat. Rajasthan's men's team also started strong, defeating Arunachal Pradesh.

In swimming, Karnataka's Srihari Nataraj clinched two gold medals, including the men's 200m freestyle, while Dhinidhi Desinghu dominated with three golds and a national record in the women's 200m freestyle.

Rugby Sevens saw Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar register commanding victories in the women's category, while Haryana and Odisha continued their unbeaten runs in the men's competition.

In Wushu, Manipur dominated with gold medals from Konjengbam Luxmi Devi, Bonish Yurembam, and Tongbram Saya Chanu, while Services' Mayanglambam Singh triumphed in the men’s Changquan event.

Services' Ningthoujam Wilson Singh clinched the gold in men's high board diving, and Vijayveer Sidhu topped the men's 25m rapid fire pistol shooting qualification.

Srihari Nataraj further extended the medal tally for Karnataka after winning the men's 200m freestyle gold medal and he was also the part of men's 4*100m relay gold medal-winning team of Karnataka.

Dhinidhi Desinghu of Karnataka won three gold medals on the opening day. She also re-wrote her own national record in the women's 200m freestyle category to clinch the gold medal.

Later, she added two more gold medals in her kitty, winning the women's 100m butterfly and women's 4*100m freestyle finals.

Ningthoujam Wilson Singh of Services clinched the gold medal in the men's HighBoard event with a total score of 289.10.

Amit Dey completed the double podium for Services by winning the silver medal with a score of 272.50. Meanwhile, Om Rajesh Awasthi of Maharashtra clinched the bronze medal with 239.30.
