An army of volunteers to be deployed for the 2025 National Games
Over 30,000 applicants have registered to volunteer at the games.
Uttarakhand is all set to host the 38th edition of the National Games, scheduled to begin on January 28, with a massive volunteer force to support various event arrangements.
A total of 1,200 specialized sports volunteers will be deployed by the National Federation Sports of India, while an additional 2,300 general volunteers are being selected by the state.
Volunteers with sports background
The specialized volunteers, distinct from the general ones, come with a background in sports, having participated in national and international competitions.
They will primarily handle responsibilities related to sports management and coordination.
In contrast, general volunteers will assist with logistical tasks such as transportation, parking, and general event management.
Both groups will undergo joint training sessions focusing on behavior, etiquette, and event protocols.
The recruitment process for general volunteers is currently underway, with over 30,000 individuals registering for the positions.
All candidates have completed online training and assessments, with their selection based on the results of an online examination.
Honorariums for volunteers
Prashant Arya, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the National Games Secretariat, confirmed to Deccan Herald that the specialized sports volunteers will be stationed alongside the general volunteers at various event locations, ensuring smooth operations throughout the Games.
The National Federation Sports of India will provide daily honorariums for the volunteers, with specialized sports volunteers receiving ₹1,000 per day, and general volunteers earning ₹500.
