44' - Good defence from India
Japan earns yet another PC and they try a variation this time. It felt as if the Indian defence already knew what was coming as Birendra Lakra neutralises it with ease.
40' - HIT WIDE!
No, they can't. The drag flick is so wide of the post that Suraj Karkera does not even have to move to block that. Poorly taken by the Japanese.
40' - PC, JAPAN!
Nilam Sanjeep errs inside the circle and it is a PC for Japan. Can they equalise?
36' - Japan trying to build from the back
Japan slowly press forward by playing it among themselves, but Abharan Sudev launches a counter out of nowhere. The Japanese handle it well and are back again to their slow press forward.
32' - India on the attack
India are on the charge rightaway in the second half, and they are playing the passing game outside the circle for now. Trying to penetrate by changing the flanks, but nothing concrete so far.
HALF TIME!
End of the first half and it is advantage India for now. The Japanese players were much better in the second quarter and created constant threats, but the Indian defence has managed to protect that one goal lead handed to them by Uttam Singh and Raj Kumar Pal.
IND 1-0 JPN
24' - SAVED!
A good save from the Japanese goalkeeper. Nilam Sanjeep with a beautiful cross from the right flank and finds the striker to perfection. But India is denied by a charging Japanese keeper.
22' - GREEN CARD, MANJEET!
An unnecessary stick challenge from Manjeet and off he goes for 2 minutes.
21' - MISSED!
The first PC makes way to another, but the Indian rushers maintain composure to deny the Japanese any sniff on the goal.
