Those constant attacks finally bear fruits for Japan as they earn their first PC of the match. The Indian goal scorer Raj Kumar Pal has now gifted away a PC.

Japan coming up with constant attacks in the second quarter, but the Indian defence has held up well until now.

End of the first passage of play and India have a 1-0 lead, thanks to a brilliant effort from Uttam Singh and then that shot from Raj Kumar Pal. The Indians have looked solid and they would be looking to score early in the second quarter with Japan down to 10 men due to a green card.

A dangerous penetration right down the centre from Japan, but Suraj Karkera does well to cut down the angle and block the shot. Good stuff from the Indian keeper.

Uttam Singh messes up the first PC, but he recovers well to earn another for India. This time SV Sunil's dragflick is intercepted well by the Japanese rusher and off they go on a counter.

10' - PC, INDIA!

First penalty corner of the match and it is in India's favour. Skipper Birendra Lakra penetrates from the centre and all Japanese defenders stay back. The Indian finds a foot.

7' - RAJ KUMAR FINDS THE NET!

Raj Kumar has a goal to his name, but this was all Uttam Singh. A brilliant counter from the right flank by Singh and he penetrates from the edge of the backline. He dribbles past a couple of defenders and just passes it to an unmarked Raj Kumar Pal, who just has to tap it in. BEAUTIFUL!

First Suraj Karkera blocks a well hit shot, before the Indian defenders come up with a clean interception to avert a dangerous move.

A poor pass from Japan gifts the ball to Vishnukant. The Indian runs in from the centre and earns a free hit. Maninder takes it and yet another free hit given to India.

The Japanese defend well to avoid any danger.
