In the first game of 2025, the Indian senior women's team faced the Maldives in the second of two FIFA international friendlies.
The Indian senior women’s football team kicked off 2025 with their second FIFA international friendly against Maldives at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru.
Following a commanding 14-0 win in their first encounter, coach Joakim Alexandersson has opted for a youthful approach, making six changes to provide fresh faces with a chance to shine on the international stage.
As it happened:
India added five more goals in the second half with Lhingdeikim adding two more goals to her name and made her debut a memorable one, having four international goals.
Meanwhile, Simran Gurung, despite coming as a substitute in the second half, scored a brace with two beautiful goals. Bhumika Devi scored the final goal after converting a spot-kick.
With this, India has registered two dominating victories in this friendly series at home against Maldives.
India has tet another dominating half in this friendly series against the Maldives, scoring six goals in the first half with debutant Lhingdeikim scoring a brace and Kajol, Sangita, Sibani, and Pooja scoring one goal each.
Maldives also got one goal as Indian goalkeeper Linthoingambi made a horrific miss-pass which was easily converted by Mariyam Rifa.
