Star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, reached her first final on the BWF World Tour since losing to Gregori Mariska Tunjung in straight games at the Madrid Spain Masters final in April last year.
On Saturday, Sindhu prevailed against Busanan Ongbamrungphan at the Malaysia Masters Super 500 after losing the opening game. Sindhu made a comeback in the second game and eventually prevailed 13-21, 21-16, 21-12 in an 88-minute battle.
Following this win, Sindhu extended her head-to-head record against Busanan to 18-1.
Busanan who last won against the Indian shuttler in 2019. While Sindhu beat the top seed, Han Yue in the semis, Busanan defeated Putri Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia.
Sindhu will face Wang Zhi Yi in the final tomorrow. Zhi Yi beat Zhang Yi Min 21-9, 21-11 in the other semifinal clash.
