Welcome to the live blog of The Bridge from Day 1 of the German Open Super 300!
Indian badminton stars are back in action with PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen leading the charge at the German Open Super 300, the first tournament of the European leg of the 2022 BWF tour.
While World No. 7 Sindhu will be starting against Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan, World Championships silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth will take on Frenchman Brice Leverdez and World Championships bronze medallist Lakshya Sen will square off against Thai opponent Kantaphon Wangcharoen in the first-round clashes.

As usual, it was an exciting day of badminton with the singles stars really shining again while the doubles department struggled once more.

It's been a mixed day on Day 1 of the German Open 2022 with Kidambi Srikanth, PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, Saina Nehwal staying on course with some emphatic victories in the Singles events.
However, it was the end of the road for the Mixed Doubles pairs of Tanisha Crasto-Ishaan Bhatnagar, Sai Pratheek-N Sikki Reddy, Dhruv Kapila-Gayatri Gopichand, MR Arjun-Treesa Jolly
On the other hand, the Women's Doubles pair of Haritha Harinarayanan-Ashna Roy also lost in the first round.
She seals the deal in the final game. Saina won the match by 21-15,1 17-21 and 21-14 against Spain's Carla.
Its all down to the final Game! After Saina won Game 1, she was defeated in Game 2 by Carla by 21-17.
In another match, Saina has won Game 1 against Spain's Azurmendi Clara by 21-15. However, Clara is now in the lead in Game 2 by 13-9.
Phew! That was so close. A great fight from Wanchaeon as Lakshya won the second game by 22-20. The Indian shuttler wins the match in straight games 21-6 and 22-20.
Looks like Lakshya is trying to win this match in straight games. However, Thailand's Wang is not very far behind Lakshya in this set and fighting really hard.
Score is 11-8.the
The Indian shuttler wins Game 1 by 21-6. Wang needs to make a comeback in Game 2 if he wants to stay alive in this match.
In another match for the Indian contingent today at German Open 2022, young shuttler Lakshya Sen is up against Wangchaeron Kantaphon.
