Indian women's badminton team confirmed their first ever medal at the Badminton Asia Team Championships with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Hong Kong in the quarterfinal clash at Shah Alam, Malaysia on Friday.
PV Sindhu gave the first win of the tie for India with a three-game (21-7, 16-21, 21-12) win over Lo Sin Yan Happy to gave the early momentum in the tie.
Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto continues this momentum and doubles the lead of India with a easy two game (21-10, 21-14) match against Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam.
Then, Ashmita Chaliha hits the final nail in the coffin with a 21-12, 21-13 win over Yeung Sum Yee and booked a place in the semis for the team.
