HS Prannoy is back in action at Japan Masters after recovering from a back injury. 

Sameer Verma upset former world champion Loh Kean Yew, and HS Prannoy defeated Misha Zilberman of Israel in the second round of the Australian Open Super 500 in Sydney on Thursday.  

Kiran George lost to Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.

In women's doubles, Aakarshi Kashyap advanced to the quarterfinals. In mixed doubles, B Sumeeth Reddy - N Sikki Reddy registered a win against Kai Chena Teoh- Kai Qi Teoh.

What a comeback from the Indian! After winning the first round, he seemed determined to secure the second game and the match. However, the Singaporean player had other plans, making Verma run around the court with his delicate drop shots and powerful back-hand and overhead smashes. At the beginning of game 3, it appeared that Loh would breeze past Verma, but the Indian did not lose hope and fought until the end, eventually advancing to the Quarterfinals.
