Indonesia Masters: Lakshya Sen advances to second round, PV Sindhu exits
Sindhu dropped six game points in the first game before conceding a straight-game defeat to Thuy Linh Nguyen of Vietnam.
Indian ace men's singles player shuttler, Lakshya Sen, progressed to the second round whereas PV Sindhu had an early exit at the Indonesia Masters Super 500 Tournament in Istora Senayan, Jakarta on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Indian mixed doubles pairing of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto also claimed a straight-game (21-18, 21-14) win in the first round against the home pairing of Maulana and Jamil.
Early exit for PV Sindhu
PV Sindhu who had an impressive outing last week, had an early exit, losing in straight games (20-22, 12-21) to Thuy Linh Nguyen of Vietnam in the women's singles category.
Sindhu had a very big opportunity in the first game as she had six game points opportunity, but, in what was a tremendous fight-back, she lost eight points on the trot to lose the opening game, 20-22.
Nguyen, after making such a spirited comeback, gained her confidence and lived up to the momentum to not allow Sindhu to bounce back in the second game, winning it dominatingly with the score of 21-12.
On the other hand, Aakarshi Kashyap, Anupama Upadhyaya, and Rakshitha Sree Santosh Ramraj also faced an early first-round exit, losing their respective matches in straight games.
Lakshya Sen Prevails
Paris Olympics semi-finalist Lakshya Sen registered his first victory of the year as he took a dominating straight-game (21-9, 21-14) win against the Japanese shuttler Takuma Obayashi of Japan.
He will next take on another Japanese player, Kenta Nishimoto in the second round tomorrow.
On the other hand, the young shuttlers, Priyanshu Rajawat, and Ayush Shetty went down fighting against the higher-ranked seeded players like Kodai Naraoka and Shi Yu Qi respectively.
