That's all we have from the 2023 All England Badminton Open. India's search for an All England champion has entered its 23rd year officially, as Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand - the country's last surviving pair in this edition, go down tamely to the pair from South Korea in the women's doubles semifinal.

The writing was on the wall and we have the result now. Treesa/Gayatri go down 10-21, 10-21 to the South Koreans Baek/Lee.

An error of judgement on the backline from the Koreans hand India their first point in a while, but Baek and Lee hit back soon with a stunning fashion into the body of Gayatri. The Indians trail 7-18.

Once again a shot goes wide and the Indian pair ask for a review only to be proven wrong. This was a much better challenge than the first one though. No more reviews for Treesa/Gayatri as they sink 6-16.

That should be the final nail in the coffin, one would think. There is surely no comeback from here?

They are eager to fightback are Treesa and Gayatri. Much better play from the duo as they put the Koreans under pressure. Still trail 6-12.

Consecutive points for Treesa/Gayatri post the break and the crowd comes alive with the chants of, "India, India". They trail 4-11 now.

2023-03-18 10:42 GMT

That was a terrible passage of play from Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand. They matched the Koreans shot for shot in every rally, but kept on committing unforced errors trying to force things on. Their coach Mathias Boe wanted them to trust their defence, but they went the opposite.

Treesa/Gayatri trail 2-11. Are they heading towards yet another semifinal exit?

"Go all in now," is Boe's advice this time.

The frustration is creeping in for Treesa/Gayatri now and this review shows that. A shot called wide and the former calls for a review. That was not even close to the sideline. Poor, poor review. India trail 2-6.
