Bhavani Devi joins Shreya Gupta in the Round of 16 with a comfortable 15-8 win over Mongolia's Oulen Tugsjargal.
She will now take on China's Xyeyi Rao in the pre-quarters, while Shreya is up against South Korea's Hayoung Joen in her round of 16 fixture.
If both fencers win their Round of16 bouts, then they will face each other in the quarterfinals.

CA Bhavani Devi advanced to the round of 32 of the women's Sabre event, finishing 4th in her pool with 2 wins from 5 matches and will now face Mongolia's Oulen Tugsjargal.
While, Shreya Gupta books a direct spot in the round of 16 after finishing third in her pool with 3 wins from 5 matches, earning a bye in the round of 32.
She will face South Korea's Hayoung Joen in the round of 16 at 11:00 AM IST.
Shooting, Men’s 10m Air Pistol qualification: No Indian shooter in final, team finishes FOURTH!
A disappointing news coming in from the the shooting arena. Indian trio of Kamaljeet, Aakash Bhardwaj and Kedarling Uchaganve failed to qualify for the finals. They even missed the team medal, finishing fourth behind China, Indonesia and Japan.
Kamaljeet shot 580 to finish ninth overall. He was the best among the three Indians in action followed by Aakash Bhardwaj 579 (11th) and Kedarling Uchaganve 568 (35th). Only Top 8 make it to the finals.
Shooting, Skeet Mixed Team Qualification: Anantjeet-Parinaaz advance to the final, finishing 4th
Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal advanced to their second final of the competition, following the individual finals
The duo shot 138/150 hits in the mixed team qualification to finish fourth, confirming a place in the final alongside Qatar, South Korea and China.
The final will be at 11:15 AM IST. They will be trying to get a medal this time, which they missed out on in their respective individual finals.
Table Tennis, Men's Singles Round of 64: Manush Shah begins with a straight-game win
Manush Shah advanced to the last 32 with a straight-game win against Malaysia’s Wong Qi Shen by 4-0 (11-9, 14-12, 11-7, 11-4).
He had a slow start and was pushed by the Malaysian opponent in the first few games, but then he found his rhythm and completed an easy outing to finish the match.
Squash, Mixed Doubles Round of 16: Joshna/Velavan takes a 2-0 win over Suraj/Shameena
A much better second game from the young Indian pair of Shameena Riaz and Surah Chand, but they eventually failed to hold on and lost a very close 10-11 game.
The duo made a good comeback from 7-9 to earn a game point at 10-9, but then they lost the next two points with errors and lost the match in straight games, 7-11, 10-11.
