Asian Games: India saved one of their busiest medal hauls for the final day of the Asian Games, finishing fourth overall with 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals.
The day began with Kumkum Mohod winning gold in the women’s individual recurve, becoming the first Indian woman to win the Asian Games title in the event and securing an Olympic quota for Los Angeles 2028. Pranavi Urs then became the first Indian woman to win individual Asian Games golf gold, while the women’s team took silver. Neeraj Chauhan added bronze in the men’s individual recurve.
On the wrestling mat, Aman Sehrawat won gold in the men’s 57kg freestyle, beating North Korea’s Han Chong Song 11-7. Antim Panghal took silver in the women’s 53kg category, while Deepak Punia won bronze in the men’s 97kg.
Then came the big team-sport finishes.
India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the men’s cricket final to retain their Asian Games title and complete a cricket gold double after the women’s triumph earlier in the Games.
And in the final Indian event of the Games, the men’s hockey team beat Malaysia 5-1 to retain their title, completing a historic hockey gold double after the women ended their 44-year wait for gold.

It was hardly the smoothest of starts for India in Aichi-Nagoya. There were days when the medals came slowly, plenty of near misses, and moments when the campaign felt like it was struggling to find its rhythm. But India is now at: 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals, and fourth in the medal table as things stand.
Of course, fourth is not locked in yet, with Uzbekistan still having events tomorrow. So we’ll have to wait a little longer for the final position.
But for India, the competition is done. The hockey teams signed off with a golden double, Aman Sehrawat upgraded his Hangzhou bronze to gold, and there were plenty of stories, breakthroughs, heartbreaks and unexpected heroes along the way.
The closing ceremony is tomorrow, and then, just like that, this particular marathon comes to an end.
Thank you for staying with us through all of it. We’ll see you tomorrow for the final goodbye on Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
