BPCL named Team India Principal Partner for Asian Games 2026

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is backing Team India as its Principal Partner at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

The partnership builds on BPCL’s association with Indian sport and its programmes aimed at supporting athletes at different stages of their careers.

A total of 13 BPCL-associated sportspersons are part of the Indian contingent at the Asian Games, competing across cricket, hockey, volleyball, badminton, archery, athletics, swimming and table tennis. The group comprises six BPCL-recruited sportspersons and seven athletes supported through the BPCL Scholarship Scheme.

The BPCL-recruited contingent includes Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube in cricket, Shilanand Lakra in hockey, and Jerome Vinith Charles, captain of the Indian men’s volleyball team. RMV Guru Sai Dutt is also associated with the Indian badminton team in a coaching capacity.

The BPCL Scholarship Scheme supports athletes at different stages of their sporting careers. Its scholarship contingent at the Asian Games includes Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam in archery, Vishal T.K. in athletics, Tharun Manepalli in badminton, Rajinder Singh in hockey, Shrihari Natraj in swimming, and Payas Jain and Syndrela Das in table tennis.

The presence of BPCL-supported athletes across eight disciplines reflects the two-pronged approach of its sporting programmes, combining recruitment of established athletes with financial support for emerging talent through its scholarship scheme.

As Principal Partner of Team India at Aichi-Nagoya, BPCL is also using the Asian Games association to highlight its wider investment in Indian sport, alongside its athlete recruitment and scholarship programmes.
