An easy outing for the former Asian champion as he claimed a win by technical superiority against Callum Roberts of the Philippines.
He recorded a 9-0 victory in the first half itself after two early takedowns, then a gut wrench from the par terre, and then later finished it with a third takedown of the round.
This will be Sunil's second consecutive bronze medal at the Asian Games, following his feat at the 2023 Hangzhou Games.
Judo, Women's 48Kg Bronze Medal Bout: Asmita Dey loses on a Waza-ari; misses out on medal
Asmita was trying to go aggressive against the top against Ganbaataryn Narantsetseg of Mongolia but got countered and conceded a Waza-ari in the third minute.
The experienced Mongolian Judoka used Asmita's aggression against her and pushed her to the mat on her back when she was trying to find a grip, but gave up a scoring point.
Asmita tried to find a reply in the last few minutes but was not able to get any points and conceded the defeat, missing out on a medal.
The reigning Commonwealth Games champion had earlier lost in the quarter-finals but fought her way through the repechage, defeating Hong Kong’s Wong Ka Lee by Yuko to reach the medal bout.
Tennis, Men's Doubles: Top seeds Indian pair of Sriram and Anirudh exit in quarters
A big disappointment for the Indian tennis contingent as the top-seeded Indian men's doubles pair of Sriram Balaji and Anirudh Chandrasekar bowed out in the last 8.
