A lot at stake for Indian men

The three Indian men - Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai and Praveen Jadhav, who will be in action in just over an hour, are not the favourites for a podium finish by any means. They do not really have the limelight with the focus of the nation entirely on women's world number 1 Deepika Kumari. They are the underdogs.

But, there is a lot at stake for the three. While Das and Rai have been around for quite some time, this will be Jadhav's first-ever Olympic appearance.

Though the Indian fans and media have hyped up Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das as the Mixed team pair, it is not really so. As per the rules of World Archery, the top two archers across genders are expected to pair up. Will Atanu Das come up trumps under pressure? Or will we see Tarundeep Rai or Praveen Jadhav pair up with Deepika? Stay tuned to find out.

Deepika Kumari ends at 9th position

Deepika Kumari shot 54 in the final round of the Women's Individual Ranking Round and finished at the ninth position with 663 points. A poor second half means that the 27-year-old Indian could not really maintain her fourth position which she had at the end of the second half. She will now face Bhutan's Karma who finished 56th with a personal best of 616 points.
