India’s compound archers continued their poor run as they failed to win a single medal at the 2026 Antalya Archery World Cup in Türkiye on Friday.
The last four Indians in contention, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, T. Ganesh Mani Ratnam, and Kushal Dalal, all crashed out in the round of 32 of their respective individual events.
The veteran Jyothi suffered a rare early exit, losing 144-146 to Denmark’s experienced campaigner Tanja Gellenthien, while Parneet bowed out 145-147 to Spain’s Alexa Olivares.
Debutant T. Ganesh went down 143-147 to former world champion Nico Wiener of Austria, while Kushal, despite a spirited fight, lost a high-scoring thriller 148-149 to Türkiye’s Emircan Haney.
Dhiraj Bommadevara was the only Indian archer to reach the final four on the day, defeating Italy’s Massimiliano Mandia 6-2 in the men’s recurve individual event.
He will compete for a medal on Sunday, beginning with a semi-final clash against Germany’s Moritz Wieser, who had earlier defeated India’s Neeraj Chauhan in the round of 16.
In the women’s recurve, Deepika Kumari enjoyed the best run among the Indian archers but was beaten 2-6 by Spain’s Elia Canales in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, all three Asian Games-bound Indian archers, Ankita Bhakat, Kumkum Mohod, and Kirti Sharma, were eliminated in the round of 32.
India will have one more medal opportunity as the recurve mixed team of Dhiraj and Kumkum takes on top-seeded South Korea in the final on Sunday.
