Indian selection trials for World Yogasana C'ships in Sonipat

The Yogasana Bharat is all set to conduct a two-day Indian team selection trials in Sonipat, Haryana for the first-ever World Yogasana Sports Championships.

The trials will be held for Seniors, Senior A, Senior B, Senior C, as well as the Junior and Sub-Junior age-groups at the Devi Lal Northern Regional Centre in the Sports Authority of India complex.

While the senior trials are set to be held on 1 May, 2026, the junior and sub-junior trials will be held on 2 May, 2026. The competitions will start as early as 7am IST.

Selection trials schedule

A total of ten Yogasana disciplines will be on display across age-group in the trials.

They are: Traditional Yogasana, Artistic Yogasana Single, Artistic Yogasana Pair, Rhythmic Yogasana Pair, Supine Individual, Forward Bend Individual, Back Bend Individual, Twisting Body Individual, Leg Balance Individual, and Hand Balance Individual.

Selection Trials Disciplines

The players selected from the trials will represent India in the inaugural 2026 World Yogasana Championships under the aegis of World Yogasana.

The 2026 World Yogasana Championships will be held at the Eka Club and Arena, Kankaria, Ahmedabad from 4 June to 8 June, 2026.

The selection trials and the World Championships comes at a time when India is working towards making Yogasana a global competitive sport.

The country is also batting to include Yogasana in the roster for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Ahmedabad.
