In a mixed day for India at the Individual Wrestling World Cup in Belgrade, Anshu Malik stood apart from the rest of her countrywomen, notching up three consecutive wins in the day to reach the final of the 57kg category.

None of the opponents seemed to have any idea of what hit them as Anshu Malik cruised through all her bouts to reach the final. The 19 year old youngster started the day with a convincing 4-2 win over Azerbaijan's Alyona Koleshnik in the qualification round.

She followed it up with a 3-1 win over Laura Mertens of Germany in her quarterfinal bout before handing a 7-4 loss to the Russian Vernonika Chumikova to book her place in the final of the 57kg category.

In the semifinal match, Anshu was put under pressure right away as the Russian raced to a 4-0 lead within the first minute of the bout. But the Indian youngster showed some great composure and made a stunning comeback to reach the final. She will now face Moldova's Anastasia Nichita in the final of 57kg category tomorrow.

On the other hand, Pinki who had displayed some terrific skills yesterday during her run to the semifinals lost to Khoroshavtseva Olga of Russia in the bronze medal match of the 55kg category.

Pinki was of no match to the wold number 2 from Russia who steamrolled the Indian to clinch the bronze medal 10-0 on technical superiority.

Pinki's loss means that India is yet to win a single medal in the ongoing Individual Wrestling World Cup.

Sakshi Malik disappoints
