Indian men's freestyle wrestlers kickstarted their campaign at the 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships in Amman, Jordan on Saturday.
The top Indian wrestlers, like Sujeet Kalkal (65 Kg) and the reigning U23 World Champion Chirag (57 Kg), were contesting in their respective categories.
Jointy Kumar (97 Kg), Vishal Kaliramana (70 Kg), and Chandermohan (79 Kg) were the other three wrestlers who started their campaign at the tournament.

U23 World champion Chirag has been knocked out of the competition in 57 kg
Chiarag had a forgettable debut at the Asian Championships as he was knocked out of the tournament in the first round, losing to Almaz Smanbekov of Kyrgyzstan.
Playing in the category of Olympic medalist Aman Sehrawat, Chirag also lost the chance of repechage as Almaz lost his next round match to Mongolia's Batkhuyagiin Mönkh-Erdene.

Two Indian wrestlers progress to the quarterfinals
Chandermohan took a technical superiority win against Uzbekistan's Asadbek Karimov to reach the quarterfinal. of 79 Kg
He will take on Magomet Evloev of Tajikstan for a place in the semi-final.
He will be followed by Sujeet Kalkal in the quarterfinal of 65 kg, where the latter takes on Kaisei Tanabe of Japan.
