The Delhi Capitals got off to a perfect start in the Women's Premier League (WPL) as they beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 60 runs in their opening match.

The Capitals posted a mammoth 223/2 in 20 overs riding on the back of half centuries from Shafali Verma and captain Meg Lanning, before USA's Tara Norris sunk the RCB chase with the first-ever five-wicket haul of WPL.

    Not the best of deliveries from Alice Capsey, but she has stuck gold for Delhi Capitals. Smriti Mandhana has to walk back for 35 as she tries to paddle, but only manages to gift the simplest of catches to Shikha Pandey at short fine-leg.

    Alice Capsey into the attack with her right-arm medium. Sophie Devine comes down the track and smashes one towards mid-off, where Shafali Verma moves to her right and plucks an excellent low catch.

    Devine asks the umpire if it was a clean catch and they go upstairs to check. The third umpire is happy with catch and signals OUT. Devine walks back for 14 off 11.
