WATCH: PV Sindhu's father hits a smash on the volleyball court
Former professional volleyball star PV Ramana, father to PV Sindhu, was seen showcasing his on-court fitness ahead of the Prime Volleyball League.
Ahead of the Prime Volleyball League starting from February 5th at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu's father, PV Ramana surprised the internet when a video of him playing volleyball surfaced on social media feeds.
The Prime Volleyball League's Twitter page shared a short video of PV Ramana, a former professional volleyball star, smashing the ball on the volleyball court in Hyderabad as some players and coaches cheered for him. The tweet read, "Like father, like daughter."
In the video, it can clearly be seen that PV Ramana, with such litheness at this age, has passed on the sporting genes to his World No. 7 daughter PV Sindhu, who is also known for her extreme flexibility on the badminton court and her ability to move quickly during points.
Many people, including former Indian hockey captain Viren Rasquinha, were quick to react and mention how strong the former volleyball player is even today.
PV Ramana is a former member of the Indian men's national volleyball team and an employee of Indian Railways in Secunderabad. Along with his team, Ramana won the bronze medal in the 1986 Asian Games. He was also awarded the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his excellent contribution to the game.
