Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT), the country's corporate-backed league for the enhancement of Table Tennis in the country has struck a new deal- and this time its with the breakfast cereal conglomerate Kellogs. Kellogs has now emerged as its sponsoring partner ahead of the second season of the league which has seen massive national and international participation. The upcoming season of the UTT is scheduled to kick off on June 14. UTT, it must be added, features six franchises and features some of the top table tennis players from the country and the world in a bid to popularise the sport in India. According to IANS, the deal has been welcomed by CEAT UTT CEO Vita Dani who welcomes the deal as a step in the right direction. With the rising popularity of Table Tennis in the country, bigger conglomerates are expected to show a keen interest in contributing to the development of the sport.

"We are delighted to welcome Kellogg's onboard. Their involvement is a testament to the widening reach and growing popularity of UTT."

"It will give a huge fillip to the league as well as to the sport of Table Tennis in the country. We look forward to a fruitful association with Kellogg's," Vita Dani was quoted as saying.

The Commonwealth Games saw an unprecedented amazing performance by the contingent representing India at the Commonwealth Games with Manika Batra grabbing attention for her wonderful backhand which helped her take down high ranked players in the competition. A lot of the credit for the rise of Table Tennis was given to UTT calling it the opportunity to take Indian Table Tennis to a global level.

Players of India had the opportunity to play with higher ranked players from around the world and this gave them the much needed exposure to ensure a steady rise on the international front. The initial seasons of UTT have been well received by the Indian audience too.
