Bengaluru-based esports company Let’s Game Now has raised ₹30 crore to accelerate the development of the Indian Super Gaming League (ISGL), a franchise-based gaming and entertainment property.

The investment round was led by industrialist Anand Mahindra and Bestvantage Investments, with participation from an undisclosed UAE-based family office, according to Inc42. The company has not disclosed its valuation, the equity stake involved or the individual contributions of the investors.

The funding will support the development of ISGL, which aims to bring competitive gaming, sports and entertainment together through a structured franchise model.

Building a franchise-based esports league

ISGL is central to Let’s Game Now’s expansion plans. The proposed league is designed around teams and recurring competitions, moving beyond standalone tournaments and brand-led gaming events.

The league was announced with eight teams associated with established sporting properties: Mumbai City FC, FC Goa, Chennaiyin FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Inter Kashi, Puneri Paltan, Bangalore Bhargavas and Andhra Agneyas.

Its format spans five games: chess, EA Sports FC 26, Call of Duty: Mobile, FAU-G and Cricket 26. The competition is designed to use city-based qualifiers as a route for players to enter the league.

The funding is expected to help Let’s Game Now advance the league's development. However, the company has not announced a detailed timeline for its next stage or disclosed the proposed franchise economics.

Anand Mahindra’s investment in esports

Mahindra’s participation connects the venture with an investor who has previously been involved in building professional sports leagues in India, including the Pro Kabaddi League and the Global Chess League.

The investment also comes as esports companies explore business models built around franchises, sponsorships, broadcasting and organised competitions.

For ISGL, the challenge will be to attract franchise owners and commercial partners while building a consistent audience across games and seasons.

Let’s Game Now’s existing gaming network

Founded in 2018 by Santanu Basu, Let’s Game Now operates an esports platform that connects brands with gaming communities. Its services include online competitions, offline events, and live broadcasting across South Asia and Southeast Asia.

The company claims to have a community of more than 1.4 million members and to have organised over 2,000 events across more than 18 countries. It also says it works with over 30 clients.

This existing network could provide a base for acquiring participants and audiences for ISGL. The company will, however, need to convert that reach into sustained viewership and recurring commercial revenue.

The commercial test for ISGL

India's large gaming audience offers an opportunity for organised esports properties, but building a franchise-based league requires more than a large player base.

ISGL will need to establish a sustainable model for franchise participation, sponsorships, media partnerships and audience engagement. The costs of production, marketing and league operations will also have to be supported by recurring revenue.

The ₹30 crore investment gives Let’s Game Now capital to develop the property. Its longer-term prospects will depend on whether it can turn the league into a commercially sustainable competition with consistent participation and viewership.
