In an unprecedented move, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to conduct separate exams for students participating in national/international sports events during the regular schedule. In regard to the new policy undertaken by the CBSE, the exams will be held at a later stage for sports students. This drive of CBSE will ensure that young talents in sports be promoted. Earlier, this facility was extended to only 14 students when the board exam was coinciding with their participation in national sports. The Times Of India has, however, reported, "It has now been decided to make this a policy and extend such facilitation hereon to all such students whose CBSE board exams may clash with their dates in any national/international sports event including dates of a journey for that event that is recognized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the student will be representing India," read the notice issued to all schools.
