Mohun Bagan Athletic Club is all set to host Catalan giants FC Barcelona in which legends of the respective clubs will clash against each other on September 28, later this year. The Barcelona Legends team is expected to comprise of several world cup heroes including Eric Abidal, Patrik Kluivert and also former Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids. The Mohun Bagan team will also field some its most decorated players ever. One of the many donning the green and maroon jersey will be one of their most precious assets, Brazilian Jose Ramirez Barreto. Italian World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta who played in the Indian Super League will also make an appearance for the Europeans at the Salt Lake Stadium. During a press conference regarding the anticipated clash, Mohun Bagan’s secretary said, “The histories of both the clubs date back to more than a century. FC Barcelona was founded in 1899 and our club was founded in 1889. Hence, we match each other in the legacy. It will be our honour to face a club that is rated amongst the topmost clubs in the world.” “We might not match them in terms of the heavyweight world cuppers and footballers they have, but we are no less in terms of the rich football history we have. Later, German legend Oliver Kahn played his last match for Bayern Munich against the century-old club. .
