India, on Saturday, finished their 2023 Hockey World Cup campaign with a resounding 5-2 win over South Africa at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
Abhishek, Harmanpreet, Shamser, Akashdeep, and Sukhjeet all found the net once in the 60 minutes to help India bow out of the World Cup on a high.

A good chance for India, but Lalit Upadhaya in front of the goal fails to collect the pass from the right flank by Abhishek. The umpire has handed India a PC for a defender's foot inside the circle , South Africa challenge and are proven right.

South Africa putting India under pressure early once again, but Sreejesh stands tall. He blocks the first shot, before saving the rebound as well. India continue to maintain a clean sheet.

END OF THIRD QUARTER
South Africa started off well in the third quarter, but they could not convert the plethora of chances they had early on. The Indians looked a bit shaky and even picked up a couple of cards - a yellow and a green, but eventually go back to the drawing board as the happier side.

A beautiful aerial pass from Harmanpreet. Abhishek collects it well in the right flank, dodges a couple of defenders, penetrates the circle and looks for a pass. Shamsher Singh, by this time, has sprinted to reach in front of the goal.
The pass is inch perfect and Shamsher deflects it in. India extend their lead in the dying moments of the third quarter.

A beautiful counter attack imitated by Lalit Upadhyay, but India fail to take advanatge. Akashdeep Singh with a wonderful run and pass to Abhishek, who is one on one with the goalkeeper.
The youngster, however, fails to beat the goalkeeper.
