Women's HIL Highlights: The Odisha Warriors climbed to the top of the table with a 4-1 win over the Rarh Bengal Tigers in the 2024-25 Women's Hockey India League at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela on Sunday.
Michelle Fillet opened the scoring for the Warriors early in the second quarter before Yibbi Jansen doubled their lead just minutes later.
The Tigers pulled one back, thanks to Udita's drag flick towards the end of the first half. However, the Warriors killed off the match in the fourth quarter with Jansen scoring her second and captain Neha Goyal also piling on the Tigers' misery.

23' - Warriors miss a chance
The Odisha Warriors have a golden opportunity to extend their lead. Rutuja gets the ball in an completely open circle with the goalkeeper Grace O Hanlon halfway down from her post.
Grace, however, does well to push the young Indian wide, who desperately tries to force a shot. The angle is a bit off and it just races away to the other side. There was no Warriors forward present there to deflect it in either.

A good move from the left by Bengal Tigers, however Jocelyn Bartram denies them with a good save. The Tigers have increased their intensity after that double strike by the Warriors.

18' - WARRIORS SCOREEE, AGAIN!
A penalty corner for the Odisha Warriors and there's no review this time around. Yibbi Yansen steps up to take the drag flick.
The Dutch defender bisects the first rusher, the postwoman, and the stretched leg of Grace O Hanlon to perfection. The ball thuds into the back of the net. The Odisha Warriors have doubled their lead.

16' - WARRIORS SCOREEE!
Not even a minute into the second quarter and Odisha Warriors have opened the scoring. A brilliant steal and pass from the Warriors and the ball finds Michelle Fillet on the right.
Fillet with a beautiful first touch to push the ball into the shooting circle and then with an even better shot to slot it into the top left corner. Beautiful goal!

END OF FIRST QUARTER!
A very lively first quarter and yet it feels like the TV umpire has worked more than the players on the field. A lot of penalty corners and even a penalty corner handed out by the umpires, but most of them apart from a Tigers' PC was struck down.
The teams have been brilliant with their reviews and that remains the biggest takeaway after 15 minutes of play. Both teams had their chances, but the defensive units have held tight.

14' - Good review from Warriors
A penalty corner for the Bengal Tigers and Udita Duhan's drag flick is deflected by her teammate high onto an Odisha Warriors' defender at the post.
The umpire hands a penalty stroke. She feels the ball rose high from a defender's stick. The Warriors ask for a review and gets the decision overturned.
That's another brilliant review!

13' - Good review from Warriors this time
A good pass from Vandana Katariya to Priyanka Wankhede on the left baseline. Wankhede tries to push it to a Warriors' defender's foot and is given a PC.
Warriors ask for a review immediately and get the decision overturned.

11' - SAVE, GRACE!
Baljeet Kaur with a splendid run on the right and she takes a shot. Grace O Hanlon has come down to cut the angle on Kaur and she then dives full length to her left to stop that ball from going in. Fantastic save!

9' - 'No advice possible'
The Odisha Warriors come on attack and they take the shot as well. However, the Tigers goalie Grace O Hanlon kicks it away.
Stoffelsma pounces on the rebound and pushes the ball into Sushila Chanu's feet. The umpire doesn't hand Warriors and PC and they ask for a review. However, the tv umpire says there's no advise possible after watching the replays.
The Warriors keep their review, but don't get a PC.
