The Indian men's hockey team fell to their second consecutive home defeat after surrendering to Argentina 1-3 in penalty shootout. The loss yesterday has pushed India down from second position in the FIH Hockey Pro League table to fourth.
It was not an ideal start for Amit Rohidas in his captaincy career and it would be interesting to see how he responds as a leader.

End of third quarter!
Much much-improved show from Argentina in that phase of 15 minutes. They were threatening to score right from the start but have managed to score just before the hooter.
India, on the other hand, have continued to attack but without much luck. They did miss two chances with Harmanpreet hitting a PC wide and Sumit failing to collect a pass from Hardik. Amit Rohidas and co though will be pleased with the way they used their review to deny Argentina a Penalty Stroke.

42' - Sumit misses!
A wonderful touch from Lalit towards Hardik. The latter runs forward along with Sumit and passes. With the goalkeeper rushing forward, Sumit loses the focus and a chance goes begging for India.

40' - ARGENTINA SCORESSS!
WOW, what a dragflick that was Nicolas della Torre. He found the gap perfectly bisecting that rush from the Indian defence and slots one in towards the left of PR Sreejesh.
Argentina open their account and India are feeling the heat.

40' - PC, ARGENTINA!
There was frustration creeping in at the Argentinian camp with each of their moves being handled well by the Indian defence, but Varun Kumar has crumbled under the constant pressure and have handed the visitors a PC.

Harmanpreet's dragflicks have been off the radar since yesterday. A powerful flick again this time but it is well wide of the goal post.

A stunning aerial pass from Vivek to Mandeep, who is just outside the box. The latter makes a dash to collect and is tackled. Given as a freehit to India through which Manpreet and Dilpreet combine to earn a Penalty Corner.

33' - Brilliant Review from India
Excellent use of review by India. Penalty stroke awarded to Argentina for a dangerous stick contact inside the circle, but the TV umpire feels otherwise.
Sumit almost immediately asked for a review after the on-field decision was given and he is proven right.

HALF TIME!
India in the driver's seat as we head into the halftime break. Two PCs for India in that second quarter and unlike yesterday, they converted them both tonight.
If Hardik Singh found himself just at the right position to slot a deflected save from the Argentinian goalkeeper first, the second was just a very powerful dragflick from the young Jugraj Singh.
India are now in a commanding position but they cannot afford to rest easy with Argentina itching to hit back.
