Highlights as UP Rudras beat Kalinga Lancers 3-1 in the Hockey India League.

HIL Highlights: The UP Rudras walked away with three points and an outright 3-1 win in their Hockey India League campaign opener against the Kalinga Lancers on Monday.
After having struggled for a majority of the first half, the Rudras regrouped and bounced back to register a come-from-behind win, with Kane Russell scoring a brace.

HALF TIME!
That's the end of the first half. No goals added in the second quarter and the Kalinga Lancers continue to lead. They started a bit tentatively, but have grown in confidence.
The Rudras, who looked comfortable in the first few minutes, have completely lost their way since. Apart from a couple of good runs from captain Hardik Singh and a few brilliant saves from goalkeeper James Mazarelo, they really do not have any positives after 30 minutes.
The Lancers would be kicking themselves as to why they haven't converted more goals, but that's largely due to Mazarelo's exploits.

28' - Lancers in control
The Kalinga Lancers continue to call the shots in Rourkela. Another good move from the left from Lancers but it is cut short as Arthur van Doren lifts the ball high, trying to pass the ball in.

23' - Good run from Hardik Singh
Hardik Singh receives the ball in the mid-field and dribbles through atleast two defenders to penetrate the circle. He is cornered inside the circle, trying to find his teammates. The Lancers intercept his attempted pass and clear it away.

20' - Good tackle, Sunil Jojo
The Rudras hand the ball over at the mid-field and the Kalinga Lancers penetrate from the left, thanks to Brinkman and Gonzalez. The ball finds Angad Bir Singh, right in the middle of the circle, and before the forward could realise Sunil Jojo has walked away with the ball.
Brilliant from Jojo, who hails from Rourkela but is playing for the opposite team.

17' - SAVE, MAZARELLO!
James Mazarello is fighting a lone battle for UP Rudras. The Kalinga Lancers penetrate straight away from the left flank and earn a long corner. It is taken quickly and there's a shot at goal, which Mazarello denies.

END OF FIRST QUARTER
That also brings an end to the first quarter of play. The UP Rudras started off well, eager to press forward, but the Kalinga Lancers have taken over and how!
Once the nerves settled in for Lancers, they have been just relentless with their attacks. The fact that the Rudras defence has been in shambles hasn't helped either. Gonzalez was unmarked during the goal he scored, and that error has already been carried out twice.
They need to get their act together, do Rudras.

15' - BRILLIANT SAVES, MAZARELO!
A penalty corner for Kalinga Lancers and the UP Rudras goalkeeper James Mazarelo blocks out Alexander Hendrickx's dragflick.
The rebound shot comes in quickly as well and Mazarelo saves that as well. Brilliant goalkeeping.

13' - KALINGA LANCERS SCOREEE!
The Kalinga Lancers had started to dominate in the last two or three minutes and they reap rewards straightaway. A good move created from the right flank, and Boby Singh Dhami penetrates with the ball.
Dhami passes the ball to an unmarked Enrique Gonzalez, who slots the ball in. SHODDY DEFENCE FROM UP RUDRAS!
